2025: An Editor’s Year in Review

While 2025 was a solid year for me, it was unfortunate for several clients. Sadly, I saw 3 long-term clients step back from publishing due to family issues or job losses, but we’ve kept in touch, and one of them handed me a monster manuscript last month.

This year also saw me step back from 2 clients due to some hateful things they’ve been posting about the trans community. Believe what you want. Worship who you want. Vote for who you want. Do so respectfully, and we can agree to disagree about many things, but start attacking people for who they are, and I will step away from that conversation.

Coming off a year where I over-extended myself and took on more projects than I should have, I feel like this was a much more manageable workload. It’s still double what I did in 2022, but on par with 2023.

If there was a word to describe this year, it would be familiar. Returning clients have found their niche, and they’ve continued to write about the kinks, fetishes, and relationships that have made them successful.

Of course, what was new this year was the development of my first anthology. Gender Ever After. In total, across 72 stories, I read nearly 250k words—more, when you consider I read the 22 ‘finalists’ two or three times in whittling down the list to my final 15.

It’s hard to say what 2026 will bring, but I already have clients poking me to see if I’m available post-anthology, and I have ideas for more anthologies I’d love to chase.
