Having gotten my feet wet last year, 2023 marks my first full year as a paid freelance editor, and I’m excited by where things are going.

That last number astounds me. Over 1 million words. That’s almost a full-time job on its own!
It’s hard to pick a favorite project, but perhaps my most challenging was a trio of serialized novels for a new client, books that required full developmental editing and proofreading. Along the way, I’ve had to learn to be stern with version control to avoid rework, and to create something of an author’s bible for these ongoing projects to ensure consistency.
The returning author who promised to keep me busy did indeed do that, with a 27-chapter novel and 10 other short projects, and I love how well we’ve meshed.
